Welcome to the UK family! This page contains information for UK King's Daughters and St. Claire employees to set up their UK accounts, also known as a linkblue account.

Why This Matters

Your new University of Kentucky account will make it easier to:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the system
  • Prepare for future tools like Workday for benefits, UKG for time/attendance, and access to Epic

FAQs

See below for answers to questions you may have about setting up your linkblue account.

When do I activate my UK linkblue account?

You will receive an email from the University of Kentucky with important information that is required to set up your account. When you receive this email, please follow the steps to complete your account activation at your earliest convenience.

Why is this happening now?

  • As part of Project Blue Connect, we are taking this important step to improve communication and collaboration across UK Healthcare, UK Kings Daughters, and UK St. Claire.
  • This will also prepare for the move to Workday, UKG for time/attendance, and access to Epic

When will I set up my account?

You will receive an email in the coming weeks with instructions about how to navigate the account setup process. This email will come from UK Information Technology Services. (itsaboutyou@lifecycle.uky.edu).

Will this change how I access current systems?

At this time, there will be no change in the log in process for current systems. Your new account will be primarily for accessing new or future systems.

What systems will I use my new linkblue ID for?

Your linkblue ID will be used to access UK Microsoft products (Email, Teams, etc.) as well as upcoming access to Workday, UKG for time/attendance, and Epic.

Will I have a completely new email address/will my old address still work?

  • During the linkblue activation process, you will also create a new @uky.edu email address and will have the ability to create an email alias (firstname.lastname@uky.edu is recommended).
  • Email that is sent to your UK King's Daughters or UK St. Claire email address will be automatically forwarded to your new @uky.edu address

Will my email and calendar be migrated to my new UK email?

Yes, your current email inbox and calendar will automatically migrate to your UK email when your linkblue ID setup is complete.

Do I need to update my email signature / business cards?

Yes, it is recommended to update your email signature and business cards to your UK email address. However, you will still receive email sent to your previous email address as it will be forwarded to your new @uky.edu address.

How do I add my UK email to my phone?

A step-by-step guide will be distributed to walk you through this optional process.

Will I have two passwords?

No. When you set up your linkblue account, you will be forced to create a new password. This process will additionally update the password for your existing account, making them both the same. This will avoid having to keep track of multiple passwords for different accounts.

How will I reset my password if needed after I create my UK account?

You will reset your password via the myUK portal if needed in the future

Will my password policy change?

  • Yes. You will now be subject to the new UK enterprise password policy that allows for a non-expiring password.
  • The only time you would need to reset your password would be in the event that you forgot your password or your account was compromised.

Why are we using Duo Phish-Resistant MFA?

  • Duo Phish-Resistant allows for an additional layer of protection in the multi-factor authentication process.
  • The added security of Duo Phish-Resistant MFA enables us to move to the new password policy that will support a non-expiring password.

How does Duo Phish-Resistant MFA work?

Instead of clicking “yes” or “no” when receiving a push for the Duo app, the app will send you 3 numbers that you will need to type in on whatever device you are logging in on.

What if I don't have a smartphone or device for the Duo app?

A request for an exemption or alternate accommodations can be made

Who do I contact if I run into issues?

For UK St. Claire

Where can I find instructions on how to activate my linkblue ID?

What happens if I don’t activate my linkblue ID?
