Starting July 1, UK Information Technology Services (UK ITS) will no longer support 10 Mbps (10BASE-T) connections.

As part of ITS’s ongoing efforts to modernize the University’s enterprise network infrastructure, upgrades to Ethernet switches beginning July 1, 2025, will no longer support 10 Mbps (10BASE-T) connections. These upgrades affect the switch ports used by most devices on the enterprise network, including computers, printers, and devices that rely on wired network connections. This change is necessary to align with current network standards and support higher-speed connectivity across campus.

More information on this modernization can be found at UK Wired Network Upgrade.

What action do I need to take?
Please review your devices now and plan ahead to avoid disruptions. Some devices may support higher speeds (such as 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps), but may need to be reconfigured to operate correctly. Devices limited to 10 Mbps will need to be replaced to maintain connectivity.

Who do I contact for support in this transition?

You can contact the UK ITS Networking & Infrastructure team at ITSaboutYou@uky.edu for questions or support with legacy equipment.
