The teams under the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) are at the forefront of digital and information technology within UK HealthCare (UKHC). These teams work together to focus on digital health, data management, and technology solutions in the healthcare environment.

UK HealthCare IT (UKHC IT) follows strategies that optimize and transform care delivery models, enhancing the clinician-patient experience through the effective use of electronic health records, digital tools, advanced technologies, services, and processes.

Maintaining crucial relationships with clinical leadership, College of Medicine department chairs, and deans/IT staff within other health profession colleges, UKHC IT aims to improve customer service and support, increase efficiencies and collaboration, and address one of the institution's most significant risks: cybersecurity. UKHC IT is pivotal in shaping the future of healthcare delivery through innovative technology and strategic partnerships. 

Nursing Information Systems

The Nursing Information Systems Team ensures that nursing data and technology are seamlessly integrated to support patient care. This team focuses on maintaining and improving electronic health records (EHRs), developing user-friendly tools for nurses, and ensuring data accuracy and accessibility. By collaborating with other departments, they enhance the overall efficiency and quality of healthcare services provided to patients.

Health Information Management (HIM)

The Health Information Management (HIM) team at University of Kentucky HealthCare IT plays a crucial role in managing patient records and ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and security of health information. They handle tasks such as maintaining electronic health records (EHRs), processing requests for medical records, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. The team also supports the MyChart patient portal, which allows patients to access their health information online, request prescription renewals, view lab results, and manage appointments.

Clinical Engineering

The Clinical Engineering team at UK HealthCare IT is responsible for the application and management of medical technology within the healthcare system. They ensure that medical devices and equipment are safe, effective, and properly maintained. This includes tasks such as installing, calibrating, and repairing medical equipment, as well as conducting regular safety checks and performance assessments.
