UK ITS Chief Information Security Officer Stephen Burr quoted in Internet2 article

University of Kentucky Information Technology Services Associate CIO and Enterprise CISO of Cybersecurity Stephen Burr was recently quoted in an article by Internet2, a nonprofit that offers cloud solutions and technology services. Burr reviewed the NET+ 1Password service, which securely stores passwords, software licenses and additional information at an enterprise level.

The one-day event provides opportunities for the UK community and the public to learn about the importance of cybersecurity.

University of Kentucky Information Technology Services launches new “TechKnow” podcast

University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (UK ITS) will launch a new podcast—TechKnow—on September 4, 2024. With a goal of informing the University of Kentucky community of the latest cyber threats, tech trends and ITS news by sharing ITS employees’ expertise, TechKnow will be available bi-monthly on Spotify.

Women in Tech event highlights tech experts, addresses key issues and draws large audience

Building trust, authenticity, mentoring and networking were a few of the topics discussed by panelists at the first Women in Tech event at the University of Kentucky. Led by women with decades of experience within a variety of tech industries, the panel participants reflected on their individual experiences and career journeys.

Apple Releases Security Updates for Multiple Products

07/30/2024 12:00 PM EDT   Apple released security updates to address vulnerabilities in Safari, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. A cyber threat actor could exploit some of these vulnerabilities to take control of an affected system.  CISA encourages users and administrators to review the following advisories and apply necessary updates: 

UK ITS students and staff help remedy global outage at hospitals, clinics

It was all hands-on deck at UK HealthCare facilities as the massive CrowdStrike incident crippled computer systems globally on Friday, July 19. To fix the issues caused by the program, computers need to be manually restarted and then updated with code. The job brought together IT employees from across the university. That included student employees throughout University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (UK ITS) who responded quickly and helped UK HealthCare resume routine care.
