This kick-off event will showcase a dynamic panel featuring distinguished women from UK, UK HealthCare, and the tech industry for insightful dialogue and networking. 

When: Tuesday, July 30, 10am  - 11am

Where: In-person or online. In-person attendees will come to The Cornerstone (401 S Limestone, Lexington). Registration required for either option.

Parking: Parking is available at the Cornerstone Garage (PS#5). For non-permit holders, parking is $2/hour. More information on visitor parking is available here.

Katie Dickens

Katie Dickens is the Chief Digital & Information Officer for University of Kentucky Healthcare.  She oversees the clinical IT delivery system and supports the strategy development for healthcare IT.  Ms. Dickens has 25+ years of progressive experience within healthcare operations specifically in information technology, revenue cycle operations, systems implementations, and process improvement.  She is passionate about developing careers in information technology and works closely with community schools and universities to create pathways and programs. 

Ms. Dickens earned her bachelor's degree in administration and completed her Master of Science degree in organization administration both from Central Michigan University.  Ms. Dickens has served as a community faculty member for Western Michigan University Biomedical Informatics program and is an active member of numerous professional and community organizations including: Health Information and Management Systems Society; American College of Healthcare Executives; Chief; Epic User Group.

A constant learner and active contributor in the fields of Data Management, Data Quality, and Data Governance, I am a collaborative leader, dedicated to enhancing Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics to add organizational value. Currently, I serve as a Data Management and Data Governance practitioner in the HealthCare industry, where I facilitate cross-functional innovation and best practices as a liaison between the business community and technical teams. My role is crucial in integrating people, processes, applications, and technology to achieve business goals.

With over 25 years of experience across various sectors in the Information Technology (IT) industry, I have held multiple roles, consistently setting solid foundations for successful data initiatives. My work has focused on ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security, ultimately driving informed decision-making and strategic planning within organizations.

 When I am not working, I have the privilege of uplifting other women, serving in the community, mentoring and learning from young people.

Tracy Peck

Tracy Peck is a Research Computer Support Specialist at the University of Kentucky. She has been in this role for 9 years and has a 28-year career that spans various positions, including helpdesk support, system administration, and IT management in cities like Chicago, Dallas, and New York City.  Her diverse experience highlights the significant contributions women make in a field that has historically been male-dominated. 

Tracy Peck

Retta Ritchie

Retta Ritchie works as a UX Specialist on the Enterprise Applications Product Development and Integration team at the University of Kentucky. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from Morehead State University with an emphasis in Graphic Design and a Graduate Certificate in Human-Technology Interaction from the University of Kentucky. Currently, she is pursuing a Master's in Information Communication Technology from the University of Kentucky, with an expected graduation in the fall of 2024.  

As a UX Specialist, Retta focuses on creating better experiences through evidence-based design and has a strong passion for understanding human behavior. With over 25 years of experience in IT, she has designed and built websites, developed content strategies, and collaborated with developers to produce user-focused products.  

Retta Ritchie's interests extend beyond her professional life. She finds joy in gardening, exploring new locations through travel, and nurturing her artistic side. These personal pursuits not only enrich her life but also contribute to her creativity and problem-solving skills in her professional endeavors.

Heather Stout

Heather Stout is the Executive Director of Information Technology with over 20 years of experience in the field. She holds PMP and PMI-ACP certifications and an MBA concentrating in Information Systems.  Heather specializes in system modernization and business process improvement and serves on several national committees related to the Transportation technology industry. She was recently awarded the Government Technology Best of Kentucky Visionary Award for the second time.  She resides in Frankfort, KY, with her husband and two children, one of whom will be attending the University of Kentucky in the Fall.
