Microsoft will be retiring Stream (Classic) on April 15, 2024 as part of a transition to Stream (on Sharepoint).

What does this mean?

After April 15, 2024 videos hosted in Stream (Classic) will be automatically deleted by Microsoft. UK Information Technology Services (UK ITS) recommends migrating any videos currently hosted in Stream (Classic) to Stream (on SharePoint) or another alternative. Read Stream (on SharePoint) vs Stream (Classic) Guide on Microsoft's support site for more information on the difference between the two Stream platforms.

How do I know what videos are impacted?

To determine which videos are hosted by Stream (Classic), first launch Stream in Microsoft365 online by visiting m365.uky.edu and clicking into the Stream app. In the top right corner you will see a link to Stream (Classic). After clicking the Stream (Classic) link, click "My Content" and "Videos" in the top navigation. There you will see all videos that are hosted in Stream (Classic) and will be impacted by this transition.

How do I migrate the videos I wish to keep?

UK ITS asks that customers only migrate videos that are still needed for consideration of storage utilization. There are two options available to migrate videos.

  1. Download & Upload to Another Location. Step-by-step instructions are available in the Stream Migration article from the Tech Help Center.
  2. Request Migration Assistance. For assistance with multiple videos, you can request support via the Customer Services Assistance Request FormPlease add "Stream Video Migration" into the short description.
