Nick Rhodes
ITS Division: Networking & Infrastructure
Service Area: Network Engineering
What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?
The Network Engineering team is responsible for the design of all of the wired and wireless network infrastructure for all campus and UK HealthCare facilities. The Network Engineering team is charged with the design of robust and effective wired and wireless networks to serve the University both today and into the foreseeable future. My primary duty as a member of the Network Engineering team is to design all wireless network implementations for all campus and UK HealthCare facilities.
What campus units do you collaborate with?
All Network Engineering designs follow the ITS estimation process, which involves communications with nearly all campus and UK HealthCare units at one time or another. We also collaborate with outside contractors, engineers, architects, and construction management in the design process for all of the renovation and new construction projects that take place within the University.
What are your workplace values?
Colossians 3:23-24 – I strive to maintain a high level of integrity in all that I do. In the designs that I complete, I do my absolute best to give the customer exactly what I believe they will need to be successful. In meetings with outside contractors, vendors, engineers, and architects I strive to be constantly mindful of the University that I represent and to do so with the utmost professionalism.
What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?
I cherish the relationships that I have been able to build over the last 4 years as a member of UK ITS. The immense scale of technology that we get to work with, learn about, and teach others about is astonishing to me. The fact that I get to come to work and do something I enjoy with people that I call friends is my favorite part of working in UK ITS.
