If you are in a separated or inactive status with the University of Kentucky (e.g., graduating, transferring, ending employment), your linkblue account will eventually go away.

This automated process called account deprovisioning is essential to keep UK's systems secure and healthy. The account deprovisioning process is different based on what kind of role you had at UK (e.g., student, faculty, staff).

For more information, see our about the Account Deprovisioning page.

Best practices for preparing for linkblue account deprovisioning:

Follow the steps below to be sure your  transition away from UK goes smoothly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Migrating any data, files, or emails out of your UK account and into a personal account that includes information protected by FERPA, HIPAA, or other private information can result in legal action. Questions? Contact UK Office of Legal Counsel.

Migrate any files you still need

Files kept in your individual UK storage (e.g., OneDrive, Google Drive) will be deleted upon deprovisioning. If you need to keep them, move them to personal storage.

  • Wait! Do you have files that need to be shared with or accessed by UK colleagues or contacts? Move your files into a collaborative space like a Microsoft Team or SharePoint site. This way, your team will be able to access files they need from you after your account is deprovisioned.

Migrate any emails you still need

Move any emails you wish to keep from your UK email account to a non-UK email account.

  • If you do not have a non-UK email account, you can utilize one of several widely available email services (e.g., Outlook.com, Gmail, iCloud, your internet service provider).
  • Notify anyone who communicates with you through your UK email address of your personal email address.

Update any personal accounts using your UK email

UK ITS does not recommend associating your UK email address with any personal accounts. However, if you connected your UK email to any personal accounts (e.g., social media, streaming services), it is important to update them to a personal email address.

Use myDocs portal to access important documents

After your account is deprovisioned, you can still access your official University documents by visiting the myDocs self-service document portal (mydocs.uky.edu). The documents that can be accessed from the document portal include:

  • Student 1098-T
  • Student Unofficial Transcript
  • Employee W2
  • Employee Pay Stubs

Note: You must have an account recovery option (e.g., personal email, phone number) associated with your account before it is deprovisioned in order to use the myDocs portal. Account recovery options are used to validate your identity.

Update information with Alumni Association (if applicable)
