That might come as a surprise to some people, considering the NCAA took a vote in 2019 and decided that they were not, in fact, going to take eSports under their wing. That hasn’t stopped over 100 colleges across the country from forming their own eSports teams and competing, the latest of which is the University of Kentucky.

Student Filmmakers Recognized at UKY Film Festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 18, 2022) — University of Kentucky students, staff and film enthusiasts gathered in the Worsham Cinema on April 29 to celebrate the creative works of UK student filmmakers. The University of Kentucky Student Film Festival returned to campus in collaboration with the Office of Student Organizations and Activities (housed in the Office for Student Success) and the Media Depot.

A state-of-the-art studio, production center & learning/research lab will be located in Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center. UK College of Communication and Information, in partnership with UK Athletics and JMI Sports, will begin using the space in 2023.

That’s the idea behind a distinctive partnership led by UK’s College of Communication and Information to create a 20,000-square-foot studio, production center and learning/research laboratory in Rupp Arena at the Central Bank Center in the heart of downtown Lexington.

UK Esports is kicking off their first set of in-person Esports leagues for the semester! Come join us at the UKFCU Esports Lounge for fun, prizes and friendly competition as we battle it out with Valorant. Registration starts today (1/31/22) and goes till February 11th. We’ll start the first game on February 17th at 7pm. Playing in the lounge is free for league play for all registrants. All registrants will be entered for our end of season giveaway! Stay tuned for details. League play is managed using the Mission Control app.
