On Thursday, October 6, members of the Enterprise CRM & Salesforce team attended the Midwest Higher Ed Trailblazers Forum held in Indianapolis. The team represented the University of Kentucky with their presentation “University of Kentucky Enterprise Approach to Salesforce - Lessons Learned”.

UK to Extend KyRON to Cincinnati, Increasing Research Collaboration

The University of Kentucky, in partnership with the KY Council on Post-Secondary Education (CPE), operates the KY Regional Optical Network (KyRON).  KyRON is a research network connecting higher education institutions, shared regional data centers, and Internet2 (largest and fastest, coast-to-coast research and education infrastructure).  A critical resource for institutions all over the state, CPE reached an agreement that will double the capacity of KyRON, through a second 100G network peering with Internet2 in Cincinnati, OH.   

Filling in the Gap: Accessing Software with Virtual Den

With an increasing demand for the ability to learn anywhere from any device, technology has to step up to meet the needs of students. One solution at the University of Kentucky which helps deliver software to students is Virtual Den. Virtual Den is a cloud-based solution that allows students to log in to a storefront to access a virtual desktop or software without having to install it directly on their personal device.

Tech Touchbase Event Held to Help Students with iPad Basics

Transformative Learning and PresU, in collaboration with the Smart Campus team, hosted a Tech Touchbase: iPad Basics event on September 9. The event focused on helping students with their Apple ID setup and configuring their UK accounts on their iPad (e.g., Outlook, Canvas, Microsoft365).  

UK Featured as New Globus Subscriber

The University of Kentucky was featured in a blog post by Globus, a platform for research data management. Bhushan Chitre from ITS Research Computing Infrastructure was quoted in the post, giving an example of how UK utilizes Globus with Gluck Equine Research Center.
