ITS Division: Office of the CIO

Service Area: Facilities Information Services

What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

My team, Facilities Information Services, is made up of two groups: Geospatial and ITFS/Programming. Geospatial creates and updates maps for floor plans, utilities, and the UK base map. IT Field Services/Programming does desktop and mobile support, server support, IT consulting (including working with customers and vendors to come up with efficient solutions), custom web application development for public and internal use, and any other service we can provide to keep the university running smoothly.

What campus units do you collaborate with?

Our team provides IT services for a diverse of people, from all walks of life and with various skill sets. Our customer groups are mainly administrative groups and physical plant, including Capital Project Management, Campus and Medical Center Physical Plant, Utilities and Energy Management, and the Office of the President. My most recent projects have been collaborating with Utilities and Energy Management to update their infrastructure, to catalog their systems, and to review and update their processes. Utilities and Energy Management is a vital department, made up of the Heating/Cooling Plants, High Voltage, Delta Center, and the Building Controls Engineering group.

What are your workplace values?

Providing the best customer service that we can possibly provide, as well as focusing on continual service improvement. In doing so, we hope that we can empower our customers keep the campus and medical center running.

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

I enjoy working with our customers the most.  I am on a first name basis with all of the customers I provide routine service to, and they are happy to see us when we enter their work areas.
