ITS Division: Customer Support & Student IT Enablement

What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

I help our team maintain and manage over 800 computers for student labs with ITS. Everything from imaging, hardware upgrades, diagnosing and updating, to software installs and more for both Macs and PCs. We work to ensure that our student computing labs are always operational. I also help manage a team of student employees in a specialized lab called the Media Depot, a space where students can come for expert media help with everything from recording and editing to publishing their multimedia projects.  

What campus units do you collaborate with?

We have collaborated with groups all across campus, from helping the Medical Center to document surgeries, to providing video editing workshops for PresentationU, to creating promotional videos for the college of Engineering and the college of Arts and Sciences.

What are your workplace values?

I like being helpful and reliable to ensure that students are aided by technology and not hindered by it!  

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

Helping customers is my favorite part of my job, whether that means installing software for a specialized class in one of our labs or sitting down with students in the media depot to help troubleshoot difficult multimedia issues. As a support specialist, I find I often encounter people having difficulties with technology.  This challenge allows me to utilize my skills in customer service and technology to solve the issue and help shape the way people think of ITS.
