ITS Division: Enterprise Applications

Service Area: Financial Services and Student Life Cycle Management (SLCM)

What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

I split my time working with the Financial and SLCM teams. We help provide software development and maintenance to support the SAP Enterprise Application software. Our teams provide SAP Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) and web programming to support University Financial Services (including Accounting and Financial Reporting Services, Research Financial Services, Accounts Payable, and Treasury Services) and Student Life Cycle Services (Student Accounting, Student Administration, Event Planning, Teaching and Study). I personally have had the opportunity to work on most all of the areas in Financial Services and the admissions area of the Student Life Cycle services.

What campus units do you collaborate with?

Most of my time is spent collaborating with Accounting and Financial Reporting Services, Research Financial Services and Accounts Payable. When my assignment involves Student Life Cycle services, I work with Student Admissions.

What are your workplace values?

Because I telecommute, the two most important values on my list are dedication and making my ‘virtual’ presence count. I am extremely committed to my job and work hard to ensure that, while I am not in the office physically all the time, I am involved in communication using all technology available to solve problems, provide input, and acquire information necessary to correct program problems and develop new software. While some people think it is too difficult to communicate with someone who telecommutes, I have worked hard to put this myth to rest, at least where my job is involved.

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

My favorite part of working in ITS and UK are the friendships and relationships I have formed with the people on my team and the opportunity to learn new skills and apply them. I have been fortunate to have the chance to be involved in so many different types of projects in Finance and SLCM because of the ABAP and web development skills acquired over my career. I seek opportunities to learn wherever and whenever possible and, as a result, have had lots of opportunities to use new skills in the different work I am assigned.
