ITS Division: Enterprise Applications

Service Area: Product Development & Integration

What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

We create software for the students, faculty, and staff. A particular software that we manage is the Academic Communication Tool (ACT). Faculty members can issue alerts through ACT, and the messages are issued to students and their advisors. This gives advisors an opportunity to follow up with students, give them resources, and be successful. We want the students to be successful. The more resources we provide, the more successful they can be.

Our team sums it up with the acronym, PADILS:

What campus units do you collaborate with?

All of them. An important unit that we collaborate with is Institutional Research and Advanced Analytics (IRAA). They piece together student data and give it to us in a meaningful way. We also work with SLCM in a collaborative way by assisting each other with SAP.

What are your workplace values?

Have fun. Constantly try to improve and be better. If you’re not learning, you’re falling behind.

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

Seeing the customer use the application that we’ve built, and seeing that excitement. For example, it’s great to see the reaction from faculty when they use ACT. We provide solutions that make life easier, and in technology that’s very valuable.
