Draft Information Technology Strategic Plan Available for Review

The University of Kentucky’s draft Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) is now available for University-wide review here through Monday, August 8. We are excited to share this collaborative effort with you.

ITS Recognizes Employee Years of Service and Customer Excellence Awards

University of Kentucky Information Technology Services has recognized employees who celebrated milestone years of service during the year 2021. These 49 employees, ranging from seven different ITS divisions, combined for a total of 760 years of service at UK. ITS also honored student workers who have worked with ITS for two or more semesters.  

Google Releases Security Update for Chrome

Google has released Chrome version 103.0.5060.114 for Windows. This version addresses vulnerabilities that an attacker could exploit to take control of an affected system.  CISA encourages users and administrators to review the Chrome Release Note and apply the necessary update. OpenSSL Releases Security Update

OpenSSL has released a security update to address a vulnerability affecting OpenSSL 3.0.4. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to take control of an affected system.  CISA encourages users and administrators to review the OpenSSL advisory and upgrade to the appropriate version. University of Kentucky Esports: Is eSports the Next NCAA Sport?

The University of Kentucky is just the latest in a long line of college admissions that have unveiled their official college team: in eSports. That might come as a surprise to some people, considering the NCAA took a vote in 2019 and decided that they were not, in fact, going to take eSports under their wing. That hasn’t stopped over 100 colleges across the country from forming their own eSports teams and competing, the latest of which is the University of Kentucky.

'Girls Who Game' encourages young girls in Fayette County to pursue careers in STEM

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — "Girls Who Game" is a new program that has been launched in Fayette County to encourage young girls to pursue degrees and careers in STEM. Monday was the conclusion of a 6-week-long program that used the video game, Minecraft, to help the girls develop leadership and STEM-related skills.
