On July 26, 2023. UK Information Technology Services (UK ITS) will be enabling the Duo Universal prompt for Two-Factor Log-In at the University of Kentucky.

After July 26, students, faculty, and staff will notice a change in appearance to the Duo prompt when logging in to UK resources with Two-Factor Log-In. Although the Duo login options will look different than previously, the new Universal Prompt will still have the same authentication options as before (e.g., push, passcode).

Traditional/Current Prompt

Current Prompt

The new Duo Universal Prompt is inherently more secure, with updated web-based technology. The update allows for features that provide "step-up security" such as Verified Duo Push, silent push, Risk-Based Authentication, and more.

Recommended authentication methods with Duo

UK ITS recommends using Duo push notifications or passcodes rather than SMS text messages for authenticating with Two-Factor Log-In. For more information on how to switch your authentication method, see How do I switch from an SMS text message device to a smartphone for Two-Factor Log-In?
