Megan Lucy
Name, Title: Megan Lucy, Faculty Systems Coordinator
College/Unit: Office for Faculty Advancement (Provost's Office)
Describe what you and/or your team does at UK. Office for Faculty advancement provides support and resources for the promotion and tenure programs and process, offers faculty development opportunities, fosters recognition of faculty achievements in both scholarship and teaching, partners with units to recruit, retain and support a diverse faculty, and promotes leadership development of faculty into academic positions. In order to do all of these things, we have about a half dozen information systems- notably the Faculty Database, Effort Planning System, Faculty Success, and Teacher Course Evaluation systems. My job is to make sure that these systems work well with each other and meet the needs of our faculty and academic administrators. I also advise the college leadership on how they can make the best use of the data we have to support their faculty members' careers and tell the story of their successes.
Talk about the ways you’ve collaborated with ITS and how it impacted your work. I work daily with multiple parts of ITS. I am particularly thankful for Diane Gagel in Enterprise Applications Group. Not only has she designed and supported many of the systems we use, she has been an invaluable mentor to me. Diane understands our faculty data systems better than anyone else at the university and I have learned so much from her. I am also thankful for Joseph Gieske in EAG who has developed and supported our Effort Planning System, which tracks the percent of time each faculty member dedicates to research, teaching, and service. Randy Casey in EAG ensures that our data is synced and backed up. I owe him big time for a time that he saved me when I accidentally deleted a data set I shouldn't have. I am thankful for the IT leadership in Adam Recktenwald and Roger Hensley who help us to vet and make critical decisions about which products we use, and make sure that what we are using is the best fit for UK. I am thankful for Marci Adams and her team who help us communicate what are often complicated messages to our faculty members so that they better understand how to make the most of the amazing IT resources UK offers. There are so many others who have provided me excellent support. I feel like I am writing an Oscars acceptance speech, but that is what it is like to work with UK ITS. There are so many invaluable team members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help the rest of us be successful at what we do. UK ITS employees are truly superstars.
