University-wide Navigation

Navigating a large medical campus can be daunting, especially when you are focused on your health or supporting someone during a medical appointment.

But now finding your way around UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital can be done simply by using the MyChart app—the electronic health record application used to manage appointments, test results and communicate with health care providers.

MyChart now features the integration of Gozio’s blue dot wayfinding technology, taking guesswork and stress out of finding your way to your next medical appointment.

What is blue dot wayfinding?

Gozio’s blue dot wayfinding provides real-time, step-by-step navigation within Good Samaritan, guiding patients from their current location to their appointment or destination.

This technology uses context-aware maps that adapt with details of the patient’s location to help reduce confusion and minimize missed appointments.

All patients at Good Samaritan can access the navigation kiosk on the first floor of the hospital that allows patients to search for and find directions to their appointment destination.

Integration with MyChart

When a patient opens MyChart, they can use Gozio’s navigation from their starting location until they reach the door or front desk of their appointment location.

Once on site at Good Samaritan, Gozio directions show patients where they are by using a blue dot. For example, as a patient moves, directions change as they move throughout the hospital. If a patient needs to find an elevator to go to a different floor, the Gozio app will provide those instructions.

Once a patient arrives at the medical appointment destination, the directions will alert them that they have arrived.

Director of Digital Engagement for UK HealthCare IT Kayla Staley said integrating wayfinding into MyChart will give patients a more concierge-like experience.

“Navigating to a doctor’s office or locating an appointment should feel seamless,” she said. “With Gozio now embedded directly in the MyChart app patients already know and trust, we can deliver a more convenient and stress-free experience.”

Because Gozio directions take the guesswork out of navigation, it also saves patients' time.

Additionally, Gozio also helps minimize late arrivals and encourages patients to use technology, which allows health care providers stay focused on providing care instead.

Not only is the incorporation of Blue Dot a technology an upgrade, but Staley also said it is an opportunity to tailor digital tools to the specific needs of patients, families and staff.

“This launch of the integrated solution allows us to design and implement features tailored to our facilities and the patients we serve. It’s an exciting opportunity to lead in digital patient engagement. Beyond improving navigation, this will benefit patient families and staff, reduce late arrivals, and help providers stay on schedule—enhancing the experience for everyone.”
