Decommission of UK-Wifi-Help Network

On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, starting at 1:30pm, UK Information Technology Services (UK ITS) will be decommissioning the Wi-Fi onboarding network (UK-Wifi-Help).

Services Impacted: UK's onboarding Wi-Fi network (UK-WiFi-Help)

Outage Window: July 23, 2024, at 1:30pm

Details: After the change window, UK ITS will no longer broadcast the "UK-WiFi-Help" Wi-Fi network. UK-WiFi-Help is a onboarding SSID used for temporary connectivity to onboard to the eduroam network.

After this change, UK ITS recommends devices manually connect to eduroam. See the UK eduroam Connection Center in the Tech Help Center for full instructions on how to connect to eduroam.

Justification: This change is being implemented to streamline the connection process for eduroam.

New Wi-Fi Support Website

Additionally on Tuesday, July 23 at 1:30pm, UK ITS will be updating the UK Wi-Fi support site (uky.edu/wifihelp).

Details: After this change is implemented, uky.edu/wifihelp will point to its.uky.edu/wifihelp. See screenshot below for a preview.

Justification: This new website provides the same information on Wi-Fi networks as the previous Wi-Fi support website in a clearer, updated format.
