Members of the Research Computing Infrastructure (RCI) team attended SC24 (Supercomputing 2024). Over 18,500 attendees attended this year’s event in Atlanta — including students, researchers, and industry professionals from the HPC community. The conference highlighted advancements in liquid cooling technology to manage high chip power consumption and explored hybrid quantum-classical systems and their integration challenges in a dedicated "Quantum Alley."

Additionally, the conference covered storage innovations, emphasizing the need to scale solutions to manage the data generated by AI and HPC workloads, and reproducibility and ethical standards in scientific research. Members of the RCI team participated in technical presentations, workshops, tutorials, posters, and Birds of a Feather sessions. For the RCI team, staying updated with these emerging technologies is crucial. SC24 provided a vital platform for the RCI team to gain insights, enhance their skills, and stay competitive in the field of high-performance computing.
