Retta Ritchie-Holbrook
ITS Division: Enterprise Applications
Service Area: Product Development & Integration Services
What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?
We build software and mobile apps for students, faculty, and staff so that they can do things such as plan and register for classes, navigate campus life and work, and support student success.
We also integrate multiple systems to share data to reduce duplication and create a more seamless experience for our customers.
My role on the team is to work closely with our clients and those that utilize our products to improve their experience. This is done through processes such as interviews, usability testing, design thinking sessions, and content strategy.
What campus units do you collaborate with?
Since our products are built for everyone at UK, we work with units all over campus. Recently, we've been working a lot with academic advisors because we're building several applications that they utilize. This includes the Academic Communication Tool (ACT), which offers a way for faculty to submit alerts, which are then sent to the academic advisors.
What are your workplace values?
To continuously learn new things and challenge myself.
What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?
I work with really creative, smart, fun people. It is very rewarding when we build software which helps students, faculty, and staff be successful at UK.
