Embarking on a new semester should not feel like a digital obstacle course. From Wi-Fi woes to ID setup and software installs, the tech to-dos can pile up fast. Luckily, University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (UKITS) is here to help you streamline your tech needs for the beginning of the semester. Consider this your go-to roadmap for all things tech — bookmark it now, and breeze through your first week without a hitch!
Where can I get tech help?
Tech trouble? We’ve got your back. The UK ITS Customer Services team is ready to help you with anything from login issues to software questions.
- Tech help center: Search 1,000+ step-by-step articles, chat live with an agent or submit a request.
- 1:1 Walk-in support: Tech Help @ the Hub (W.T. Young Library basement)
- College IT contacts: For help with college specific needs e.g. classroom technology or course software, ask your instructor for your department’s IT rep.
Where do I check my email?
Access your UK email anytime through Microsoft 365. Go to m365.uky.edu and sign in with your linkblueID.

Why do I have two emails?
Don't worry — it is normal! Here is how it works:
- Default email: abcd123@uky.edu — tied to your linkblue ID
- Optional (Personalized) email: firstname.lastname@uky.edu — created in UK Account Manager (ukam.uky.edu)
Both go to the same inbox!

Free or discounted software
Need tools for class? Visit download.uky.edu to grab software like Microsoft Office, MATLAB and more free or discounted just for students.
Just a heads-up: You might not get access until you are officially enrolled and on campus.

Need help with WiFi?
Connect to eduroam, UK’s secure campus WiFi network, using your linkblueID@uky.edu and password.
Need iPad support?
If you received a UK-issued iPad, there are multiple support options:
- In-person help at The Cornerstone or W.T. Young Library
- Smart Campus support at the Gatton Student Center
Secure your account with multi-factor authentication
- Register or reactivate: Add new devices or re-enroll in Duo/Microsoft Authenticator via the myUK portal.
- Enroll backup methods: Always register at least two methods (authenticator app and SMS or a secondary device).
Campus printing services
Print from anywhere on campus:
- Install Print@UK: Download the client for your laptop or the mobile printing app.

Stay cyber safe
Keep your data and yourself protected:
- Use multi-factor authentication (and backup methods)
- Report phishing attempts promptly
- Create strong, unique passwords

Keep devices updated
