University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (UK ITS) recommends that everyone change passwords for several websites after what is being called the “mother of all breaches.” Although no UK accounts are affiliated with the breach, UK students, faculty and staff likely have an accounts some of the websites affected by the leak.

According to Forbes, the leak includes approximately 26 billion records within a database that contained old usernames and passwords from Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, LinkedIn, Telegram and Twitter. Although the breached database contained old user credentials, UK ITS still recommends changing your passwords.

If you already use a password manager, changing your passwords for these sites is simple. Never reuse passwords for your work or personal accounts. Be sure to enable multi-factor authentication for these sites, too. This extra security step ensures that only you can access these sites by using a one-time code, fingerprint or facial scan.

It’s better to be safe and change your login information for these sites than to worry about potential threats like identity theft. For the latest tech tips, follow UK ITS on social media.
