University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (UK ITS) will launch a new podcast, TechKnow, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Listen to episode one here.
Communications Officer for UK ITS Corinne Boyer will host the podcast. Boyer said sharing ITS employees' expertise will help make technology more accessible.
“Whether the UK community wants to understand how to prevent phishing attempts or hear about artificial intelligence predictions, the TechKnow podcast will be a fun way to learn about technology,” Boyer said. “UK ITS wants to be a reliable source of information on the latest IT news, cyber threats and best cybersecurity practices for the UK community.”
In the first few episodes, UK ITS experts will delve into phishing, artificial intelligence and discuss UK_CYBERCON 2024.
Over the summer, UK ITS saw phishing attempts launched through email with links to Google forms. It only takes one person on at UK to fill out personal sensitive information that threat actors can use to cause damage to individuals and the university. Learn more about how to spot and report phishing attempts by listening to episode one.
In an upcoming episode, Enterprise Chief Technology Officer for ITS Enterprise Systems Adam Recktenwald will discuss exciting developments in the artificial intelligence space. In Recktenwald’s opinion, healthcare is one area that will see big advancements.
“An AI tool could look at 10 million x-rays and figure out what's similar about them or what's different about them and find patterns in those x-rays and that may lead to cancer diagnoses or even stress fractures,” Recktenwald said. “Or other things that may help it help the radiologist find those things faster and be more efficient and be able to do it for more people at a lower cost.”
