KHSAA State Esports Spring championships off to strong start at UK

New Dependents Feature in myUK App

Beginning April 26, the myUK mobile app will include an enhanced feature allowing employees to manage their benefit plan dependent information from the convenience of their smartphone or tablet. Employees will be able to edit or add dependents for benefits coverage using myUK mobile for any-time benefit changes or during open enrollment. Using the mobile dependent enrollment tool via the myUK mobile app is optional, as the myUK web version of Employee Self Service has not been changed and will still be available for dependent enrollment.

Botaka Speaks to Carter G. Woodson Academy

Student Media Depot employee, Moses Botaka, was asked to speak to at STEM night at Carter G. Woodson Academy on April 13.  Moses tabled at their STEM Night event to talk about media, show off some equipment and talk about working at the Media Depot. Moses demonstrated a Canon R6 camera on a DJI Gimbal for the students, showing how you can connect the gimbal to a phone to control it. Moses gave away swag from The Cornerstone and Student Media Depot.

Getting a New Phone? These Steps Can Help Prevent You From Getting Locked Out of Your Account

University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (ITS) has a feature within the Duo app called Duo Instant Restore. This feature will allow students, faculty and staff to transfer a Duo account to a new phone themselves. The Duo app is used for Two-Factor Log-In at UK, which adds an extra layer of security to UK resources like myUK, Microsoft 365, Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN client and more.   So how do you access this feature?

Gen.G, UK to host 'Hoops at Home' NBA 2K Tournament April 8

Lexington, Ky. (March 30, 2023) — Global esports organization Gen.G and the University of Kentucky announced details for the return of its popular Hoops at Home NBA 2K tournament, which will take place Saturday, April 8, 2023. The tournament will provide the opportunity for players to take part in an online NBA 2K basketball experience on twitch.tv/universityofky that is meant to connect and unify the community through esports. 

Student Media Depot Receives Award for iPad Video

UK Information Technology Services (UK ITS) has won the “Best of Category” Award in the 2022-23 Communication Awards from the Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS). The award was earned for Short Promotional Video. “Best of Category” in Short Promotional Video went to Kirk Laird, director of the Student Media Depot, and his team for short video UKY iPad Initiative 2022. Laird is proud of the abilities of his staff.

UK Libraries, Media Depot Host First Ever 48 Hour Student Film Race

On March 24, the University of Kentucky Libraries, Media Depot and Smart Campus Initiative will kick off the first ever campus-wide “48 Hour Film Race,” an exciting opportunity for students to make a movie – write, shoot, and edit – in just 48 hours. Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to participate.

The Media Depot provides; access to recording equipment and space, editing stations with specialized multimedia software, and technical support for students’ development of their academic media projects.
