Media Depot Student Matt Dunlap Premieres Film

On Friday, December 3, audience members gathered in Worsham Cinema in the Gatton Student Center to watch “Burning in Trial”, a film by Media Depot student worker Matt Dunlap. The film was written and directed by Dunlap with the help of fellow Media Depot students and equipment.

Upcoming Updates for External Accounts Including Vendors, Contractors & Volunteer Faculty

Information Technology Services (ITS) would like to inform the UK community of process updates regarding external account management. External accounts consist of externals and external learners. Externals are non-UK employees that require access to University resources for their job, research, or academics (e.g., vendors, contractors, volunteer faculty). External learners are non-UK employees that need access to UK web-based training. These updates to automated processes regarding these accounts are essential in continuing to harden the cybersecurity posture at UK.

UK Information Technology Services’ Institutional Research, Analytics and Decision Support (IRADS) team presented at the Southern Association for Institutional Research (SAIR) conference on October 11. Three IRADS members, Chris Thuringer, Adam Lindstrom, and SuZanne Troske, presented “Developing Test Optional Rules for University Decision Points” at the conference held in the Galt House in Louisville.

Student retention has been a priority for universities for years, but declining enrollments during the pandemic have led many institutions to amplify their efforts. More than ever, colleges are leveraging technology, support services and campus resources — including tutoring, advising, financial aid and mentorship — to help at-risk students stay in school, thrive academically and have enriching experiences. In fact, 72 percent increased investments in student success technologies during the pandemic, according to a recent EDUCAUSE survey.

UK Attending 2021 Supercomputing Conference

This year, UK employees from ITS Research Computing Infrastructure (RCI) and the Center for Computational Sciences (CCS) will be attending the 2021 Supercomputing Conference from November 14 – 19. Since 1988, the conference has grown to host over 13,000 students, researchers, and industry professionals interested in data analytics, high-performance computing (HPC), and the latest in computing technologies. 

Update Your Zoom to Version 5.5 or Newer

UPDATE: Zoom will be delaying the implementation of the 9-month release window requirement for all Zoom accounts and users from Nov. 1 to a later date. Information Technology Services (ITS) would like to inform students, faculty, and staff that Zoom is requiring that all clients be updated to version 5.5+ in order to join any meeting at a later date. See below for questions you may have regarding this new policy.  How Do I Know What Version of Zoom I Have?
